    Hi,

Would it be under Settings > Customize Your Public Profile?

What I don't understand is why you would join a network with no barriers to entry and over 200 million members, yet not want your profile to show up in Google? It seems the easier option would be to close your LinkedIn profile.

This is completely inaccurate. Google is very aware of privacy concerns and allows you to file a petition to remove such from their search results.
Check out this link and look for the section" remove personal information from the web".

What you want is simply not possible. In fact, it is very likely your LinkedIn profile is a part of the Google cache, which means it will be there forever.
