oh great... why cant we just delete?
Tham Wai Keong Jan 04 at 12:23 PM

Because it is a Javascript programming fault by their web designers.

One should not have to resort to the tedious way of ''posting more a
to push off the previous comment'' in order to do this.

Simple ''Edit'' and ''Delete'' function buttons which work properly, as
in present in all internet forums, would solve this straighforward problem.

Unfortunately, both their web designers and customer service people
appear to be deaf, dumb (both literally unintelligent and mute) and blind.

Has anyone had any joy removing their own comments within their own profile, not a group?

I figured out how to removed discussions I've started in other's groups:

    1. select group
    2. Click 'Your Activity' on the far left under your picture
    3. Click onto 'Discussions you've started'
    4. On the far right of a discussion, mouse over and see the down V option.
    5. Select delete.

LinkedIn doesn't allow me to delete one of my own comments that I made on another's status update. Click on "X" and nothing happens. This is why I so hate to use LinkedIn.

Absolutely right. I clicked on the "X" as well but today I see that the comment is still there. It's weird for a "professional networking site" like LinkedIn to not have this feature.

It's a programming bug. Sent complaints to Linkedin, but nothing done. It seems their IT people are sleeping on the job.

None of these work on the IPad application. I had forgotten the lack of User Friendliness with LinkedIn! Why join something if the sheer inability to use it creates so much frustration? To get information......has it occurred to LinkedIn that sometimes we want to give back?? Anyone know where I can find solutions that work for an IPad?

There are programming errors here. The delete
              button does not work.

I can't seem to delete a comment, despite clicking and
              reloading the page several times.

I am getting the same as Mr. Keong on this thread: https://www.linkedin.com/nhome/updates?topic=5869990271516708864. Notice my duplicate comment. Tried to delete on multiple browsers over multiple days.

I sent a message at LinkedIN's invitation, to congratulate a friend on a new job. I didn't expect it to be public and I'd like to delete it. I cannot see it anywhere except on my friend's profile so the advice here doesn't help. Surprising LinkedIn doesn't make it clear when you are posting to the world, let alone make it easy to delete such a comment!

I've had exactly the same problem. I thought I was sending a personal message, but it is a public post. Shame on LinkedIn management for not making that clear, or allowing it to be deleted or edited. Trying to make LinkedIn more 'social' does not attract me to be more involved.

This issue is still present as of june 2014. Thanks LinkedIn for suggesting me to congratulate a friend on a work anniversary. What a lovely initiative of yours to publish my "personnal" message to the public without informing me. I am even more touched by the fact that it cannot be deleted.
