Yes, I just found a way - if you click on the person to see their page, scroll all the way down and on the right side you will see how you are connected to them.

You have one connection and they have one connection. And those connections know each other. No, I don't know of any way.

You will see people who can introduce you to people who know them. Your connection knows their connection.

I actually know a couple of my 3rd connections personally but it's not letting me request a connection without an introduction. Is there a way around that?

I came here searching for the solution and figured out myself. view their recent activity and then click on the person's Name/profile PIC. it takes you to the connect button

What do you mean "its what you and the 3rd degree connection have in common"? Are you saying that a person is labeled as a 3rd degree connection based on similarities in our skills lists and NOT because the person has a connection to one of my 2nd degree connections?

If I am understanding your comment correctly then I should assume that there is no "real" person between myself and my 3rd degree connections, which would, as far as I see it, make a 3rd degree as connected to me as the homeless guy down the street because the homeless guy and I both speak English which is also a skill shared by my 3rd degree connections and myself.

If this is correct a 3rd degree connection is not really a connection at all but is just another person who happens to have a LinkedIn account, like zillions of others.

It has NOTHING to do with common interests.

IF I am a first connection of BILL, and you are a first degree connection of MARY and BILL and MARY are first degree connections, then YOU AND I are 3rd degree connections.
